Energy-efficient upgrades are a true investment that can increase your home's value. But they can be costly up front. The good news is, thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA), there are more ways to save big on home improvements than ever before.

Energy efficiency tax credits, which reduce your total annual tax liability, are already available, as well as certain existing rebates. Plus, over $8 billion in upfront rebates will be rolling out from participating states and utilities in the next 12 to 24 months.

To find out how much you may qualify for in existing tax credits and future rebates through the IRA, use our Inflation Reduction Act Rebates Calculator below.

Don't miss out on a single savings opportunity.

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) has expanded tax credits and added rebates for energy-efficient home upgrades like heat pumps and solar panels. To learn which upgrades qualify and whether you might be eligible, download our free guide.

Many energy-efficient and high-performing home appliances qualify for tax credits and/or rebates under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). These include the following (click on each to open up a deep dive guide to savings on that specific appliance):

While federal tax credits are available right now, IRA rebates will be rolling out in participating states over the next 12-24 months.

IRA rebates and tax credits, however, are not the only ways to save on these systems! Several states and utilities offer rebates or other cost incentives on these appliances or services like energy audits.

To find out which rebates and tax credits are currently available to you based on your location, use the Rebates Finder in Pearl's free app, Green Door. Rebates Finder automatically finds savings you may qualify for based on your location and provides additional eligibility information plus instructions on how to apply.

As you'll see in our Inflation Reduction Act Rebates Calculator results, most rebates have a cap on the total amount you can claim. This is usually either a set dollar amount or a maximum percentage of the project cost. Additionally, some rebates cannot be combined with each other.

Tax credits also have a cap, but unlike rebates, they can be claimed annually if qualifying home improvements were made.

Finally, local incentives for energy-efficient upgrades can be combined with IRA rebates and tax credits.

The easiest way to understand which IRA rebates and tax credits can and cannot be combined is to take a spin through our Inflation Reduction Act Rebates Calculator above and download a copy of our Home Energy Rebates and Tax Credits Guide.

Federal tax credits under IRA are already available! To see which you might be eligible for, use our Inflation Reduction Act Rebates Calculator above, and then download our free app, Green Door

Inside Green Door, you'll see our Rebates Finder, which surfaces specific, location-based tax credits (and rebates) you might qualify for, as well as additional eligibility information and links to apply. If you've made energy-efficient home improvements this year, be sure to update your home profile in Green Door with information about the upgrades. In early 2024, Green Door will generate a document with important information you and your tax professional can use to claim your tax credits.

States that choose to participate in the IRA rebates programs are expected to roll out rebates on a state-by-state basis in the next 12-24 months. As they do, Green Door will update automatically so you never miss out on savings. If you can't wait, check out Rebates Finder today — your state or utility may already offer a non-IRA rebate that can help you cut the cost of adding a high-performing asset to your home.

The best and easiest place to start is with Rebates Finder in Pearl's free app, Green Door.
