Kevin Kennedy – Children’s Mercy Kansas City
Kevin Kennedy, MPH, CIEC. Mr. Kennedy is the Program Director of the Environmental Health Program at Children’s Mercy Kansas City. He is an Environmental Hygienist and Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant with over 30 years’ experience in the field. Mr. Kennedy teaches courses in healthy home principles, environmental health assessment and investigations, environmental measurement and sampling, and building science.
The Children’s Mercy Environmental Health Program has performed over 1400 home environmental assessments providing patient families with resources to assist them in reducing indoor environmental exposure to children. They do research on indoor environmental health issues focusing on home intervention exposure assessment, and more recently on geospatial analysis of housing conditions, health disparities and social determinants of health.

Larry Zarker is the CEO of the Building Performance Institute, the professional standards setting and credentialing organization for both the weatherization and home performance contracting industries. He oversees BPI’s national network of over 1o,000 certified professionals and BPI GoldStar contracting companies. He was instrumental in moving BPI toward the new Healthy Home Evaluator certification and the new Healthy Housing Principles reference guide and certificate of knowledge.
